Welcome to Open Water Swim (OWS)!

OWS is for those who want to train and participate in open water swims and competitions.

Open Water Swim consists of several training tactics that will assist anyone competing in open water swims or those looking to compete in the pool races. After a few classes you will start to feel more confident, stronger, and most importantly relaxed when faced with the challenge of swimming in an open water competition. For those that are already expert swimmers or those just starting out, OWS will give you the tools, skills and mindset that will carry over into your race day. We have proven drills and tactics that I have successfully used in my past swims – those that will thoroughly prepare you for all the action of an open water race: currents, waves, splashing, kicking and managing the environment around you while keeping calm and focused. We know what it’s like and we want to help you achieve more successful results.

Everyone we talk to has expressed how much they can really use the extra training in the water, from the elite athletes to the maybe I can do it athletes. Our staff is here to help you feel that you CAN do it and give you that extra push you need to make you faster and more confident and comfortable in the water.

The objective of the Open Water Swim Clinic is to provide all types of swimmers (novice/beginner, intermediate, expert) with information and proven swim techniques, tactics and drills (including Coach Bryan’s original creations) to assist you in your training and prepare you for open water swims and competitions with the end goal of making you faster and more comfortable in the water.

I have a proven track record, successfully working with swimmers that couldn't swim more than five strokes without major difficulty or distress. I have trained these same people to successfully compete in open water races such as triathlons, the Cross Bay Swim and many other distance swim races. Given my track record, I can say, without a doubt, that I have changed lives and helped people overcome fears and achieve their goals. All Open Water Swim Team members have improved their times, stamina, and confidence in only a few sessions.

I have become so inspired and driven by these successes and incredible achievements, that I have committed myself to sharing my extensive knowledge and experience beyond my Open Water Masters Swim program on Long Island so that I can continue to make even a greater difference in the world of swimming and open water swim competitions. This OWS Clinic is conducted in a pool and is intended to provide swimmers and aspiring athletes with the tools they need to improve their swimming technique, make them more comfortable in the water and prepare them for any future open water swim challenges. I guarantee that if you train with me, you will be a successful swimmer.

Testimonials

From a number of swimmers who have trained with Coach Bryan:

“I just wanted to thank you for last night's swim. I still can't believe that I got in that freezing water and attempted to swim with my face in the water! Thank you for believing in me. Most of all thank you for your continued encouragement and not letting me give up! You are the best!” - Julie

“Coach Bryan is amazing. I went from a non-swimmer to a successful triathlete! He changed my life.” - Mike Philips

“I have been training with Coach Bryan since I was 5 years old. I have achieved national rank status and am now swimming at Stony Brook and am a US swim coach. In 2009, Coach Bryan trained me for the Cross Bay Swim with the goal of coming in 1st place and following in his footsteps. I did!” - Sean Conway

“Coach Bryan literally taught me how to swim. I could not swim a lap without difficulty. I am now a successful triathlete and have started a charitable organization called “Tri-ing for Kids” where triathletes raise funds for sick children. Coach Bryan was a true inspiration and to be honest, I don’t think I would be where I am at now without him.” - Doug Rabin
